Postmortem on Happy

Ask most people what they are looking for out of life and most will answer that they just want to “be happy”. Ask those same people if they have achieved it and you will likely get a reply that resembles “I will be happy when….”. We keep chasing rainbows but never seem to find the elusive pot of Skittles. Skittles – the ultimate happy pill? Wait now…that is gold.

Requime for ’18

I am grateful for the abundance of gifts this life has afforded me and I am curiously optimistic for the year ahead. There are rumblings on the other side of the veil that have yet to reveal themselves fully but you can be assured that in true dhar fashion, when the time comes for action, I will be ready to leap. Until then, there is comfort in the stillness… Wishing you all a very Joyous, Prosperous, and Loving New Year!

Unmasking Authenticity

How many “I could….but(s)” are limiting your experiences? In a world where we are innately wired for connection, where are the areas you have abandoned or disconnected from yourself? From others?

The Stress Connection

Stress has been normalized and almost glamorized in our society. We live in a world where productivity and multi-tasking are applauded. We give lip service to relaxation and down time as self care, while concurrently our inner soundtracks are playing “you should be doing more of something else”. In those moments, honest attempts at relaxation and have been hijacked by a stress response.

Spring Foraging

Oh how I love spring and I love living in Victoria BC, where we often see the first signs of spring while the rest of the country is still blanketed in white. In gardener’s language, these are more commonly referred to as weeds but if you get to know them better, you may want to keep a few around for their beneficial qualities.

First, Do No Self-Harm

I can’t remember a time when I was not at war with myself. Born at a time when the median population was slim, chubby little red headed kids really stood out. Mom would buy my clothes from the “chunky” section at Sears and chubby kids were never a first pick when choosing teams in PE.

Hello Candida, My Old Friend

Having had an interest in holistic nutrition from an early age, I spent the majority of my 30’s and 40’s popping supplements, eating clean, and aiming for the ultimate preventative lifestyle. My motto being – it is easier to prevent than to cure.

I Promise to Love, Honour and Respect

Inspiration, comes often in the early hours before my eyes open; this morning it arrived accompanied by Tina Turner. Somewhere in the space of awake and asleep, cogs began turning, which eventually engaged my mind. My slumber infused consciousness landed on the repetitive phrase “what’s love got to do with it?”.

Happy New Year!

I don’t know about you, but 2017 is a year that I am pleased to see the back side of. Whatever alignment the planets were in, felt like a cosmological conspiracy to lay me down. And it almost succeeded! My couch became my haven and Netflix – my constant companion. We were inseparable. So often… Continue reading Happy New Year!
